Is gratuity calculated on basic salary or total salary?
Basic salary only. Housing, transport, and all allowances are excluded from the gratuity formula under Article 51 of UAE Labour Law.
What happens to gratuity if I resign before 5 years?
Unlimited contracts: 1/3 if resigned before 3 years, 2/3 between 3–5 years. Limited contracts receive full gratuity on resignation after 1 year.
How many days does my employer have to settle my dues?
14 days from your last working day under Article 53. Delays can be reported to MOHRE at 800-60 or through the MOHRE app.
What is the maximum gratuity allowed in UAE?
Total gratuity cannot exceed 24 times your basic monthly salary (equivalent to 2 full years’ salary), regardless of how many years you worked.
Can my employer deduct from my final settlement?
Only documented debts — salary advances or company loans. Arbitrary deductions without written agreement are illegal under UAE Labour Law.
Do these calculators work for DIFC or ADGM employees?
DIFC uses the DEWS scheme, which is a different system. ADGM follows modified rules. These calculators cover mainland UAE and most free zones including JAFZA and DAFZA.
